CUANDO LAS PALABRAS SE FUERON

When The Words Left

Personal project

Camera: Minolta Dynax 505si
Film: Kodak UltraMax ISO400

This photographic project began from a desire to always carry my grandparents with me, despite the distance. In 2020, I started photographing them in their spaces, in their everyday life. Sewing, eating churros, picking figs, sitting out in the street of their hometown, cooking for the whole family.
Without realizing, I began to document my grandmother Consuelo’s dementia — how, little by little, she lost her abilities, her memory, and with them, parts of her essence.
This ongoing project will become a photobook, a tribute to the lives of my paternal grandparents, to their generation, their land, their craft, and to life in La Mancha.
